Welcome to the Roads Authorities and Utilities Committee (Scotland) Website. The Roads Authorities and Utility Committee (Scotland) [acronym 'RAUC(S)'] provides, at a national level, coordination and an overview of activities carried out on roads under the 'Street Works' element of the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 as amended by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005. RAUC(S) comprises representatives of the Roads Authorities (including Transport Scotland in respect of Trunk Roads and Motorways) and of Scotjug (the Scottish Joint Utility Group) together with representatives of the Scottish Executive as legislature. This site has been set up mainly to allow communication between RAUC(S); its subsidiary Area and Local RAUCs; its Working Groups and individual Roads Authorities and Utility Companies as well as agents and contractors working for either of these latter entities. As such, it provides a forum in which papers for, and minutes of, meetings can be made available to the 'NRSWA community' together with guidance in the form of Advice Notes which supplement the above legislation and their subordinate regulations and codes of practice. The site also provides contact information for chairpersons of RAUC(S) and subsidiary bodies and, under password protection, contact information for representatives serving on the several bodies or groups. Certain sensitive documents may also be held under password protection. Authorised bodies may obtain access to protected areas by contacting the website administrator.
